Wool felt has proven to be a durable material over the years, but it is not inherently waterproof. It takes more specialized processing and impregnation to make a hat "Waterproof". Since this is not done to every hat, not every hat is waterproof. There is only one important thing you should definitely keep in mind with any hat once it gets wet. Do not bend or fold, but simply lay it on the table and let it dry in its original shape. This way it will keep its shape for a long time.
